Overview

National High School was established in 1913 as Anglo Tamil School. At present the school has two campuses, one at Sarat Bose Road (affiliated to WBBSE & WBCHSE) and the other at Hazra Road (affiliated to CBSE). Both schools function under the aegis of N.R.Iyer Memorial Education Society. Now in its 107th year the school aims to provide a comprehensive & value based education to its pupils at an affordable cost. The focus is on creating conscientious and responsible future citizens. Our students have done the school proud by faring consistently well in the board examinations through the years. The medium of instruction is English. Tamil is also offered as a language apart from Hindi and Bengali.

Keeping functional competency in perspective several value added infrastructural facilities have been introduced in the last decade namely

1. Multimedia classrooms supported by NIIT
2. Close circuit surveillance system to ensure a secure environment for students & staff.
3. Public address system in individual classrooms.
4. In-house medical & counselling facilities etc.

We strive to give the best possible environment to students to grow up in. To identify and nurture the talents of its pupils, the school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities. In the last few years our students, teachers & staff have had the opportunity to interact with legends like Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam & Vishwanathan Anand. The Hon’ble Governors of our state have also graced several events hosted by the school and enlightened our students. Now we endeavour to uphold the values, upon which the institution was built and has grown and to maintain its glorious legacy for many more years to come.
