Report on the Educational Excursion to KSEDA
Date: 7th November 2025
Class: XII (Psychology)

The students of Class XII Psychology (Science and Humanities) went on a one-day educational excursion to the Kolkata Society for Empowerment of the Differently Abled (KSEDA) on Friday, 7th November 2025, as part of their CBSE Psychology curriculum. A total of 28 students participated in the visit, accompanied by Mrs. Somali Debnath, Teacher-in-Charge, and Ms. Poulami Poddar. The excursion aimed to provide practical exposure to the students and help them connect theoretical concepts with real-life experiences.

At KSEDA, the students had the opportunity to interact with children with various neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Specific Learning Disabilities. Through these interactions, they observed the children’s social interaction patterns, behavioural traits, and communication styles, thereby gaining valuable insights into their cognitive and emotional functioning.

The students also interviewed therapists and parents of the children, learning about their case histories, therapeutic interventions, educational support systems, and lifestyle adaptations. These discussions provided the students with a deeper understanding of how psychological theories are applied in real-life rehabilitation and care settings.

Overall, the visit to KSEDA was a truly memorable and meaningful learning experience. It not only enriched the students’ knowledge of psychology but also sensitized them to the challenges faced by individuals with special needs. The experience proved to be both educational and inspiring, leaving a lasting impact on all who participated.
